Maria America's story

María is 55 years old, she is married to Amilcar, who is 59 years old and has been a farmer for 20 years, they have one son and they live in Puyo, a city in the middle of the Amazon jungle in the western province of Pastaza at 924 meters above sea level, and it the capital of this province. It is demographically small, but has a wide variety of sites that are preferred by both domestic and international tourists, especially ecological activities and extreme sports. It is a city that has grown economically every day due to commercial activities, livestock, agriculture and tourism, because of which branches from financial establishments have been brought there because they want to take advantage of the economic activity that the city sustains.
María decided three years ago to begin to sell natural personal care products because these products have helped her to reestablish her health and vitality. Despite the small support from her family and the lack of confidence people have in these products, María continues to be successful in her sales and she is applying for a loan from Fundación Alternativa in order to purchase more products and be able to maintain her stock and offer her products at a competitive price to her clients and in this way contribute to the recuperation of their own health. She is hoping to increase her earnings in order to help her husband with the maintenance around the house and the education of their son.
