Yucela Epifania's story

Yucela is 31 years old. She married to Manuel who is 34 and is a bricklayer. They have 2 children who are 14 and 3 years old.

This humble family lives in Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, a place that has a very active trade as it has become a land port of exchange between and mountains and the coast of Ecuador. Also, the visits in recent years by domestic and international tourists strengthens the activities of entrepreneurs that have established businesses around the city. This city is the third most populous in the area, also contributing to the activities of agriculture, livestock, fishing and manufacturing.

Yucela sells food and staples for use by her customers. She works all day from Monday to Sunday with the help of her husband who helps mainly in the afternoons. She learned this activity from some friends and has been earning income this way for nine years.

This hardworking woman applied for a loan in order to buy and invest in a variety of products for her customers, and thus getting back her investment, while helping her to reach her dream of having a house with which to live in with her family in better conditions.
