A loan of $5,000 helped to upgrade the food truck to meet health department codes..

Socorro's story

El Antojo is a mobile food preparation truck that has been in operation for four years. They sell healthy, freshly prepared traditional Mexican cuisine. Their food is nutritious and is prepared with white meat chicken, low fat beef, freshly made salsa, lard-free beans and low-fat cheese. Their delicious tortas (meat sandwiches) are made with wheat bread and light spreads. They hand make their own lard-free flour tortillas that make the perfect quesadillas and burritos. Finish off a visit to El Antojo with a yogurt, a salad, or a glass of freshly squeezed juice made from pesticide-free locally grown produce.

Socorro seeks $5,000 to upgrade the food truck to meet health department codes. The fire sprinklers, ventilation system and sink plumbing need to be upgraded, and a new public health permit needs to be purchased. She must also purchase new blades for her commercial juicer and ice machine, as well as, obtain a new motor for her freezer and new cutting boards and cutlery.
