A loan of $575 helped to buy fertilizer and to hire laborers.

Cirila's story

Cirila, 46, is an industrious woman. She lives in her own house, which she bought with her partner, Jesús, 46. They have an only child, Félix, 15, who is the main motivation of all her efforts. The work that Cirila and her husband have done with so much will and dedication has helped her a lot to make progress in her life.

Cirila makes a living working her land, where she grows coffee plants. She knows that the quality and the price she gets for the sale of her beans will depend on the care she gives her coffee crops. What she likes most about her job is taking care of her plants, and she's very happy when she sees them big and with very good results.

She has been doing this work for 20 years and considers the most difficult part to be transporting the heavy bags of her harvests to the distribution centers located an hour from her community, where she receives better prices for her beans.

With the loan she received she's going to hire day laborers to help her with the maintenance of her plants as well as with the pruning and weeding. With the 1,500 nuevos soles [PEN] she'll buy fertilizer and hire laborers to help her.

This is her second loan. She's grateful to the lenders for their trust. She's also grateful to the members of her communal bank for their moral support, and this way she'll continue with her work plans.
