Lucina Edelmira's story

Edelmira is a very hardworking woman who very much wants to get ahead especially for her 13-year-old son who she loves very much and would give her life for. He and her husband work hard to provide a better life than the one they now have.

Edelmira lives in the city of Pucallpa, a city noted for its hot, welcoming climate. It also has abundant beautiful flora and fauna especially because its scenery is very beautiful; its cuisine too is varied and delicious.

She learned to earn her living with the sweat of her brow when still little and succeeded in learning to be a teacher. When she has free time available she likes going out with her family and especially to enjoy one of their favorite dishes, “Arroz con Pollo y Frejoles,” together.

With much dedication and above all enthusiasm, Edelmira works every day as a teaching assistant in a local school; she works about 9 hours daily. She believes she does well in her work because she’s very patient with the children and above all because she’s very responsible.

Edelmira is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support they’ve given her she will be able to finish building her house because she’ll be able to buy supplies like plywood, nails and metal struts, among others. In this way she will be able to have a more secure house and above all be able to give her son a better quality of life and she will be able to continue striving every day to make her greatest dream a reality: to provide her son with a good profession and to obtain a permanent teaching position.
