A loan of $775 helped to buy sacks of natural fertilizer and to hire day workers.

Alberto's story

Alberto, age 42, is a very happy and tenacious man. He lives in his own house, which he bought thanks to his efforts. He lives in the house with his four beloved children to whom he wishes to give a better quality of life.

Alberto is a productive man, and he does his work with great care. His job consists of working the land to cultivate coffee plants, which make his sales profitable. He has been working his own land for 20 years. During harvest time he has help from day workers. This way he gathers the fruit of his harvest more rapidly, and the harvest is sold to gathering centers. They compensate him very well for each kilogram of product that he sells.

He considers transporting his products from the farm to the gathering centers in the city, which is an hour and a half from his community, to be most difficult. This is the place where they offer the best prices for his coffee beans.

He will use the loan that he got to hire day workers to help him clear the weeds that afflict his crops. This is his second loan, and he pledges to make all of his payments punctually. He will do this because he wishes to have access to another loan later on.

In his communal bank he is a member who participates in the meetings and with his colleagues. He will use the 2,000 soles to buy natural fertilizer. He will also hire day workers to help him clear the weeds from his coffee crop.
