Augusta B.'s Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from Waterloo, a small town in Western Sierra Leone. School staff from this institution like their counterparts in other SMT’ s operational areas come to SMT to request loans. With the help of these loans, they are empowered to do or solve certain financial challenges that their salaries alone can not let them do. And at the end of each month, using their monthly salaries, these teachers repay their Kiva loan. Their school’s bursar is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Augusta is the leader of this group. The 36-year-old is a native of Makeni city. She is married to a police officer and the couple has three children. Augusta is a school teacher and has been teaching for many years now. She has requested this loan in order to pay school fees and other school charges for her children.

In this group: Augusta B. , Jeneba , Abou A. , Mrs. Hawa H.
