Hassan's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from Waterloo, a small town near Freetown, Sierra Leone's capital city. They have applied for a loan of 17,600,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) from Kiva lenders. With the help of this loan, they can meet certain financial challenges that they couldn’t meet if they depended on their salaries alone. And at the end of each month, their school’s bursar repays SMT/Kiva on their behalf.

The featured leader of this group is Hassan. Hassan is a native of Freetown. He is 32 years of age. He is married to a teacher and the couple has one child. Hassan has requested this loan in order to invest it in business. He will buy local produces like like rice, palm-oil (the country’s most popular cooking oil), etc. in large quantity and sell them.
