We So So Group's story

In the photo are members of the We So So group. They are small-scale businesswomen based in Waterloo, a small town near Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital city. These businesswomen are requesting for a loan of 2,500,000 SLL from SMT/Kiva lenders. With this loan, they will be able to expand their businesses, make more profit and consequently improve their standard of living.

The leader of this group is Hawa. Hawa was born in Bo city, in Southern Sierra Leone. She is married to a soldier, and the couple has four children – three in primary school and one in secondary. Hawa sells palm oil and has been running this business for many years now. She will use her portion of this loan to buy gallons of palm oil to add to her current stock.
