A loan of $750 helped a member to buy a small boat to support her husband's business.

Bunthoeurn's Group's story

Bunthoeurn is 37 years old and is originally from Sa Ang district of Kandal province, Cambodia. She has two little kids who are underage for schooling. She has managed about one hectare of farmland for growing rice as her main source of income. Besides helping her on the rice field, her husband also catches fish to sell for additional income. Bunthoeurn is able to earn almost 21,000 KHR per day from the current business, which she has been engaged in for 18 years. She has been with VisionFund (Kiva's partner) for one cycle already. She has paid back the entire loan, which has relieved her family's burden and upgraded her family's livelihood. Now she has formed a group of three female members to apply for a new loan in the same loan amount, 1,000,000 KHR each. As group leader, she will use her portion to buy a small boat to support her husband's fishing business. She hopes that her husband can catch more fish so as to add more income for their children's sake.
