Leidy es una joven emprendedora de 20 años de edad que desde hace 5 años comenzó a trabajar en busca de generar ingresos para su hogar y poderles colaborar a sus padres con los gastos de la familia, ya que pasaban por grandes dificultades económicas. Fue así como inició trabajando como empleada realizando el arreglo de uñas y poco a poco fue adquiriendo más experiencia. Queriendo independizarse y generar su propio negocio, hace 2 meses Leidy tomó unos ahorros y montó su propio salón de belleza donde ofrece los servicios de arreglo de uñas, corte de cabello y otros servicios más, y gracias al cual ahora tiene su propio empleo y puede aportar económicamente para que en su hogar tengan la posibilidad de generar ingresos que le permitan salir adelante. Buscando superar la dificultad de capital y sacar adelante este proyecto, Leidy busca un préstamo para comprar muebles y vitrinas para exhibir sus productos y aumentar las ventas de productos de belleza que vende en su negocio.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
