Ayudanos Señor 1 Group's story

Lucienne is one of the members of the Ayúdanos Señor (Help Us Lord) Group 1. The majority of the group's members are emigrants from Haiti who live in "bateyes" (company towns where sugar workers live) in the town of Romana, one of the Dominican Republic's tourist destinations, which have a high scale of luxury.

Lucienne's business is selling food, which she cooks to distribute to workers and to sell from her home to her neighbors. She has two children. She tells us that her biggest challenge is sending her children to university and that she enjoys going to church.

Lucienne is very excited to be receiving her eighth loan from Esperanza Internacional. She will invest it in her business, which she has had for more than 12 years. She is planning to invest her loan in buying different cooking ingredients, such as rice, oil, beans, meat, vegetables, and disposable plates.

She is dreaming of expanding her established business into a small restaurant in her community. She is saving her profits to do this, and she thanks you all for your support.
