Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $325 helped to buy 6 sacks of fertilizer.

Jose Ignacio's story

Jose is married and lives in his mother-in-law's house. He is 41 years old, and he has three children aged 5, 3 and 11. He is a farmer who cultivates staple grains to support his family. He learned to farm from his parents. He has a lot of experience and he works on his own. He works daily, or on a schedule that is dependent upon the agricultural season.

He has requested a loan because he needs to buy 6 sacks of fertilizer so that he can strengthen his crops and get a better harvest. This will help him to have enough money to invest in his crops, so that he will get a good output of staple grains.

His dreams and aspirations are to grow economically and provide for his children's needs.
