A loan of $1,175 helped to purchase sheep.

Aquilina's story

41-year-old Aquilina is a responsible woman. She lives in the company of Eliazar, her spouse of twenty years. They have two children, Kelvin and Lizbeth, to whom they look after in their own home. While her husband works as a laborer in a brick factory, where pay is based on each unit of a thousand produced, she engages in the purchase and sale of livestock [and] earns better profits. Her work consists of purchasing very young sheep, bulls, and cows. She [then] looks after and feeds them [for the purpose of] selling them at the local markets in [her] city. She already has a great deal of experience [in this field of work]. She says that she is well paid for her animals and if she is not paid her asking price she will bring her animals back home and continue feeding them. That way, she will earn a better profit the next time. "I can't sell off the animals [too] cheaply; I have to be smart," she says. Now, she would like to rent a spacious area of land together with her husband to use for his [own] brick factory. That would enable him to work for something of his own and not for other people. She is a member of the communal bank "Mi Banco." This is her twelfth loan with [field partner] MFP, where thanks to the support of all of you, she will be able to obtain the credit that she needs to achieve her objectives. She is also committed to paying her payments on their due date, as [all] the members of her [communal bank] are responsible and supportive. Aquilina will invest the requested money in the purchase of a large quantity of sheep.
