A loan of $775 helped to buy corn at wholesale.

Santusa Leonor's story

Leonor, 74, is married and has five adult children. She is a corn merchant. She sells it in seed form to local markets in her province to be consumed as is and also to make “jora” which is the main ingredient used to make “chicha de jora” [corn-based beverage]. Leonor has been doing this for many years and this has made it possible for her to raise her family and now provides her with the means to live.

On this occasion, Leonor is requesting the loan to buy corn and thus capitalize her business. She is therefore very grateful to Kiva for helping her to stay in business. She commits to make her installment payments punctually.

Leonor belongs to the “Patrón Salvador del Mundo” in San Salvador District, Calca Province in Cusco, Peru.
