A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase tree seedlings.

Seydou's story

A native of Koutiala, Mr. Seydou is 32 years old, married, and the father of three children. He is polygamous and lives in his father's house with his wives and children in the Darsalam II district of Koutiala City. He did not attend school due to societal reasons. And so he quickly embraced revenue-generating work at a young age at his father's side.

Mr. Seydou has now been working on his own for eleven years. His business is profitable. He does well for himself because he always has special orders from individuals (growers) and from professional organizations.

To satisfy his customers properly, Mr. Seydou turned toward the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso two years ago. He is now on his fourth loan. The three previous ones were correctly paid back.

With this new loan, he intends to increase his inventory by purchasing 2,000 tree seedlings from Burkina Faso. He makes his sales retail in Koutiala City and at the house, and he accepts cash or credit from a customer base composed of men and women.

With this financing, he is planning on a monthly profit of 200,000 francs CFA that will enable him to meet his needs and repay the loan. The rest will be invested in his business. His ambition is to expand his business by purchasing many more types of seedlings in order to attract more customers.
