A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase cloth to sell.

Mamary's story

Mr. Mamary is a 33-year-old married man and the father of two children. He lives with his wife and children in a traditional family in the Hérémakono-Nord district of Bougouni. After secondary schooling culminating in a degree in accounting, he still had no job for years. He attempted several businesses, especially selling steers, sheep, and goats but unsuccessfully. So he decided to become interested in the buying and selling of cloth, which was successful for him. With four years of experience, he has a mastery of this work, which he learned from a friend.

Concerned about satisfying his burgeoning customer base, he decided to collaborate with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. He is now on his fourth loan. The three previous loans were indeed paid back.

With this new loan, Mr. Mamary intends to purchase 20 lengths of cloth. He gets his supplies of cloth from Burkina. He makes his sales in Bougouni to a mixed customer base in different districts of Bougouni.

With this loan, he plans on making a monthly profit of 75,000 francs CFA that will be use to repay the loan and to cover family expenses.
