A loan of $800 helped to buy chickens, guinea pigs and pigs, and feed for the animals.

Miriam Leonor's story

Señora Miriam has been an active member of the community bank Pauteñitas [little Paute] for a year and a half. She lives in the outskirts of the canton of Paute, a place that has a mild climate favorable for a great variety of fruits and even more so for growing the most beautiful flowers. The people are friendly and polite, and work in agriculture, raise animals, and do business.

Doña Miriam is 54 years old and married. As a result of her marriage she has conceived five children who are now adults; two of them are married and live independently, two work and they help her financially, and one studies in the canton's school. Her husband works in a shoe factory. They don't have their own home but live in a borrowed house.

Señora Miriam works caring for a ranch. She has lived in this place since she was a girl, and it's a job that goes back generations; her grandmother took care of this place, and then her mother did, and now this task is the source of her own income. She also raises chickens, guinea pigs, and pigs.

She is going to invest the funds in the purchase of chickens, guinea pigs, pigs, and animal feed.

Her goal is to buy herself a plot of land to build a house.
