A loan of $1,450 helped a member to buy quinoa.

Las Magníficas De Franz Tamayo Group's story

The “Las Magníficas” (The Magnificent Ones) communal bank will start its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Los Andes Focal Center. It has 8 members led by a governing board headed by the president, Ignacia. The members carry out a variety of businesses among which are: quinoa sales, locksmith shop, clothing sales, blanket fabric sales, microbus assistant, construction worker, shirt making and bookstore.

The loan they’ll take out will benefit small businesswomen. Ignacia is one of the members and she indicates that this is the first time she’s joined Pro Mujer having done so by invitation of a girlfriend who is a member of the institution. She currently has a business selling quinoa juice that she started helping a cousin and learned the recipe from her and later on opened her own business.

The loan she’ll take out now is to increase capital. She will buy quinoa from wholesalers and once she makes the juice will sell it in her stand. This way of working allows her to generate income to support her family since she’s married and has three children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the credit and the health services.
