A loan of $800 helped a member to buy piglets for raising.

Yum's Group's story

Yum lives in a rural area of the Ek Phnom district of Battambang province, Cambodia. She is a 49-year-old mother of four children. She has earned a living through raising pigs for ten years. Yum is able to earn approximately KHR 27,000 per day from her current business and she manages to save about KHR 19,000 each day for the future needs after deducting daily expenses.

Yum has been with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for four cycles and fully repaid the past loans, which have helped her relieve her family’s financial burden and improve their livelihood. Now, she is leading her group of three to apply for a loan with VisionFund. Yum will use her portion to buy more piglets for raising. She hopes this loan will enable her to increase her pig-raising business and also hopes to feed her pigs to be fat and healthy so as to sell them for a good price to gain more income to improve her family's living condition.
