Managua, Nicaragua / Farming

A loan of $1,075 helped to buy farm supplies such as urea complete fertilizer and insecticides.

Mario Pablo's story

Mario Pablo is 47 years old and from a farming family that grows pineapples and dragon fruit which is why he first started growing crops. Mario Pablo is married and has a son who is in elementary school. His wife is a saleswoman. He sometimes experiences problems caused by low productivity owing to either the weather at harvest time or problems with pests. However, he has still managed to make progress even with these difficulties affecting his finances. Mario Pablo is requesting this loan to buy farm supplies such as urea complete fertilizer and insecticides to maintain his two 'manzanas' (just under 3.5 hectares) of dragon fruit. He plans to sow more land with pineapples so that he can provide his family with better living standards and his customers with a better quality of fruit.
