Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,375 helped to purchase palm oil, peanuts and beans to resell at retail.

Aminata's story

Aminata has been a member of the "banc villageois" of Petit Kandé since December 30, 2009. She joined the group through her sister. At 35 years old, she is married and the mother of five children (two boys and three girls) between the ages of six and 15 years old. Aminata is an experienced tradeswoman. She keeps herself busy selling palm oil, peanuts and beans. With this loan, she will be able to purchase her supplies in bulk to resell at retail in her local market. She conducts her business in the market twice each month. With the income she earns from her sales, Aminata will be able to aid her husband in paying their children's schooling.
