Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Ndiang Montagne Group's story

This group from the Ndiang Montagne Banc Villageois was created on December 15, 2008. It is made up of five active women who live in the same neighborhood and who all work in commerce.

Mame Touty, the group's representative, is 57 years old and married. She has three children, one of whom is a girl, and the youngest of whom is 18 years old. She is a couturier, and she makes female clothing to sell. She works from home. In the photo, she is the woman standing on the right with her left hand raised, wearing a black boubou with gold stripes, and a white shawl draped over her shoulders.

She receives orders for embroidered sets, veils, damask, etc. She buys her fabric, percale, and accessories in Dakar.

She plans to buy 500,000 F of fabric, so that she can make more revenue once she sells it.

With the profits, she takes care of her needs, helps cover her family's expenses, and saves some too. Her husband is retired.

In this group: Mame Touty, Boury, Fatou, Khady, Madiele
