A loan of $400 helped to buy used clothes.

Maria's story

María, 65, is a brave, enterprising woman. She had seven children who she educated and raised until they were able to become independent. She lives in her own house with her husband, Arturo, who gives her the strength to continue working much to provide each other with better quality of life. María’s work consists in selling all varieties of all-occasion used clothes for women, men and children. She buys all her merchandise by the bundle in a shopping center in the city and then takes it to sell in distant zones and districts. She started this activity thanks to an idea and initiative of her husband’s five years ago; he supports her in everything. Seeing how easy and profitable it was, she decided to continue and to date has been doing very well. She considers her business to be profitable because it generates much income. Although her work sometimes is heavy because of the trips she makes and because sometimes she has to carry the merchandise by herself, she knows she must strive to the maximum degree to earn higher profits. Even though she sells much, she’d still like to earn higher profits and to sell in larger volume. Because of this she wants to continue working and making business grow. This is MFP loan #3 so she’ll have support to reach her objectives. She’s very happy to belong to her communal bank because all the members are very kind, supportive people. She will use the requested 1000 new soles to buy larger amounts of bundles of used clothes seeking the lowest prices by buying in volume. In this way, she hopes to have higher profit margins.
