A loan of $575 helped to buy fabric and batting.

Rosa Estelita's story

Rosa is a member of the "Las Margaritas" communal bank in Coronel Portillo district, department of Ucayil. She is 67 years old, widowed, and has seven children.

She has been working with this communal bank for 12 years. She dedicates herself to sewing sheets, pillows, and quilts. She counts on her daughter to do the finishing work.

With her new loan of 1,500 nuevos soles, Rosa will buy: 20 meters of fabric for sheets, 20 meters of printed fabric, 10 sheets of batting, two spools of white thread, two spools of blue thread, and two spools of red thread.

Hers is a profitable business thanks to Manuela Ramos. She learned how to make sheets at one of the workshops Manuela Ramos runs, and hopes that they will continue teaching new things. She works in her own house, since her customers know where to find her when they need her products.
