A loan of $975 helped to purchase fabric.

Blanca Nieves's story

Blanca belongs to the communal bank Las Margaritas, in the district of Coronel Portillo, department of Ucayali. She is 57 years old, single, and has one child.

She has been working with loans from Manuela Ramos for twelve years. She works making placemats and pillowcases.

She will use her new loan of 2,500 nuevos soles to purchase 22 lbs of flower-patterned fabric, a roll of satin ribbon, half a dozen spools of colored thread, and three sets of needles for her sewing machines.

Her business is small. She has two sewing machines to work with, but lacks a serger so that she can give her products a better finishing. She also needs a space where she can work comfortably. She is grateful to Manuela Ramos for granting her loans with every cycle so that she can stock her business.
