A loan of $1,500 helped to buy stone, cement, and iron and to pay for the labor to build a perimeter wall around her house.

Mirian Del Carmen's story

Miriam is 44 years old, and she has a daughter. She has had a ‘moto-taxi’ [three wheeled motorized vehicle] for three years and a store for two years. She learned the work on her own initiative upon seeing the need in her community. She gets the products that she needs mostly from the orders she places with distribution trucks. She buys the other part in a city that is five minutes from her house, and she takes them by moto-taxi to her house. She will use the loan to buy stone, cement, and iron and to pay for the labor to build a perimeter wall around her house. This way her home will be safer; now she does not even have a wire fence. This way she will be able to invest more in her store. She will be confident that her house is safer, and she will not be afraid of having her products stolen.
