A loan of $400 helped to buy fertilisers and guano from poultry.

Norma's story

Norma is 37 years old and is married to Clemente, with whom she has four children who are 19, 16, 10 and 8 years old. They live in their own house attached to a ranch. Norma is a hardworking and persevering woman. From the age of 18 she worked in the fields her parents gave her. Clemente also has his own land which he inherited. Norma grows Yungay and Jilguero potatoes, and sells her crop in the largest market in Tarma. She says that her potatoes always sell well and she has the best prices.

Work in the fields isn't easy, especially with children of school age, who she has to look after before she can attend to her fields. Norma wants to sow more potatoes this month, as the planting season is getting closer. This is why she needs your support. This is her fourth loan with MFP. She gives her word to be punctual with her monthly payments. She is a member of the communal bank 'Mirando un futuro mejor' ('Looking to a better future'), and she is pleased that the system lets her work for herself. Norma will invest the money in buying bags of fertiliser and guano from poultry so she can start sowing, as she already has the seeds.
