A loan of $125 helped a member to buy materials to build a proper latrine.

Houn's Group's story

Houn lives in the rural area of the Kandal province’s Kandal stoeng district of Cambodia. She is 37 years old, married and has one daughter who works at a clothing factory. Rice farming has been the main source of income for the family for several years, and Houn supplements the income by selling cakes in her local area. She is able to earn approximately US$4 per day and manages to save about US$2.5 every day after daily expenses. Houn's group consists of three members who live in the same village. This is the first loan for her group with VisionFund. She and her group members are requesting a loan of KHR 160,000 from VisionFund. As the leader, she is going to use her portion of the loan to buy materials to build a proper latrine, such as toilet bowls, tile drainage etc. She hopes this loan will enable her to have a clean latrine for her family to use.
