Mary's story

Born in 1946, Mama A. Mary was forced to get married at the age of 15 years to Mr. Maricus A., who was three times older than Mary, because her parents couldn't pay her school fees or meet her basic needs. She and her husband had nine children. Life was difficult. She couldn't provide for her family, pay school fees, or complete the building of their home. In 2002, she decided to join GHAPE to improve her life. Since then she has received and repaid four loans from GHAPE.

Given a loan she plans to buy seeds and cassava for the production of water fufu. She thinks she will succeed because she has experience in this business and has a ready market in Bamenda urban center.

She plans to repay her loan in 24 months. The first installment is due on the fourth month from the date of loan disbursement.
