A loan of $900 helped a member to extend her store and buy more items for her inventory.


Five Queen Lom Group's story

Niandeihnuam (the lady with her right hand raised) is a member of Five Queen Lom group that was formed three years ago. She is 28 years old and a mother of four school-going children (two girls and two boys). Her husband Chinlianthang is a part-time vehicle driver.

Niandeihnuam first took a loan from WSDS for setting up a vegetable vending business. With the support of her husband, they manage to grow their business with hard work and dedication. Today, the vegetable vending shop has been upgraded to a Variety Store in her locality by adding more items like soap, toiletries, meat spices, rice, dal, sugar, etc. Niandeihnuam's successes have boosted the other members' confidence so that today the other members have their own small enterprises of vegetable vending, 'pan" shop and grocery shop.

With the loan from KIVA, the Five Queen Lom will utilise expand their respective small business enterprises. Niandeihnuam will utilise the loan to stock rice, sugar, mustard oil, etc. that she will be able to purchase in larger quantity.
