Fátima Gisela

El Salvador
San Miguel, El Salvador / Food Production/Sales

A loan of $350 helped to buy 100 pounds of cheese and 100 pounds of cream, which are the products that she sells most.

Fátima Gisela's story

Fátima is 37 years of age, and is mother to one son who is in the sixth grade. She lives with her mother and grandmother in her grandmother’s house. Fátima works selling dairy products from home, and has done this for 25 years. Her mother sells in the morning, while Fátima sells in the evening. This business was set up by her mother, who started off selling a few things, and nowadays they sell around 200 pounds of cheese and cream.

Each week Fátima travels to a city to buy merchandise, which she then stores in refrigerators in her home and resells the produce to people in the local area. The loan she has requested will be used to buy 100 pounds of cheese and 100 pounds of cream, which are the products that she sells most. She really needs this investment, as she has been ill and does not have the capital she needs to carry on with her business. Her customers always request large quantities of products. Fátima has worked hard, and wants to set up a small store selling basic convenience store items.
