A loan of $975 helped to cover the costs of clearing and fertilizing a small field.

Enrique Roberto's story

Enrique is a 63 year-old man who lives in the city of Ica with his partner and their 2 children. He loves his family, and they are his main reason for living. He is a very pleasant, enthusiastic, and hardworking man. He and his partner dedicate all of their efforts to helping their family get ahead. Regrettably, Enrique was not able to study for a career in mechanical engineering as he would have liked. He enjoys playing soccer with his friends in his free time, and sometimes he prepares a delicious Carapulcra (a Peruvian potato stew) with Sopa Seca (a noodle dish) for his family.

Enrique works very hard as a taxi driver and is very enthusiastic about his job. He has his own car that he uses for work. Every day he leaves very early in the morning to drive the streets of his city in search of passengers. He is able to work about 8 hours a day and thinks it is going well because of his dedication and the pleasant treatment that he provides for his customers.

Enrique is very grateful to Kiva lenders, since thanks to their help he will be able to cover the costs of clearing and fertilizing a small field on which he will plant lima beans; this, in turn, will help him to fertilize his pecan trees. As a result, Enrique’s field will be in good condition for his crops. He hopes that his crop will be sufficient so that he can have good sales and increase his family’s income. This would be very helpful for Enrique in the future, since he wants to acquire more land and have a house of his own.
