Margaret Lum's story

Margaret is one of two wives and mother of five children and six step-children. She has received training in “Achuboh” (cooking and retailing food by the roadside), marketing techniques and management skills. She successfully repaid her first two loans and provided lunch to the hungry.

With $600 she plans to increase her business by buying pots, plates, buckets, spoons, firewood, palm-oil, 4 bags of corn, a bag of beans and containers for preservation. She will provide breakfast and lunch to bachelors, day-students, hawkers, laborers and travelers.

She plans to pay her loan in 18 months. The first repayment installment shall be made on the fourth month from the date of disbursement of the loan.
