A loan of $550 helped to buy cattle.

Manuel's story

Manuel, 69, is married and illiterate. He lives with his wife and a young son who attends secondary school. They live in Recinto Bellavista, a sector with humid climate in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas Province, a key province where the coastal and mountain regions of Ecuador meet. Its economy has developed thanks to tourism, commerce, agriculture and animal husbandry.

Manuel works on a farm where he learned the milk-producing business 28 years ago. He puts long hours of hard work into it every day of the week as does his wife. Manuel approached Fundación Alternativa because he found out about the the support it gives the rural sector and he decided to request a loan to buy cattle to increase production of milk she sells locally. Manuel hopes to provide his son with the opportunity of attaining a profession and he’s sure that he will remain steadfast to his goal.
