Gladis's story

Gladis, 52 years old, is a hardworking woman who is also caring and friendly. She lives with her partner, Aurelio, who is a civil construction worker and they have three children as the fruit of their union whom they love greatly. Together they live comfortably in their own home.

Gladis has a business making and selling underwear for ladies and gentlemen. She has a machine that she bought with her savings and learned to sew on her own by watching her friends and helping them. She also sells meals, breakfasts as well as lunches, in front of her house. She started sewing more than 21 years and selling food three years ago. She sewed first for her relatives and neighbors but has now succeeded in expanding her customer base thanks to her fine work. She relies on help from her sister, who is also learning the skills of a seamstress.

She feels her business is successful because of the good profit it generates. She likes her business because she can count on an income to help her husband with household expenses. On the other hand, she does not enjoy the physical fatigue she endures from maintaining the same posture, however she still wants to continue working and expanding her business by making skirts and blouses to stock her inventory.

This is her eleventh loan from MFP and she is counting on their collaboration in order to continue meeting her goals. She is also comfortable with her communal bank and considers its members to be responsible and supportive people. With the S/. 3,000 sum requested, she will purchase sewing supplies, such as fabric, elastic lace and other items, which she will bring from the capital, seeking the lowest prices by making high-volume purchases.
