A loan of $1,000 helped to invest in the purchase of such materials as silver and natural gemstones for production.

Mariana's story

Mariana is a Mexican artisan who specializes in handcrafted jewelry. She would like to invest in the purchase of such materials as silver and natural gemstones for production.

Mariana has been selling through NOVICA since 2011. This is her story:

"I spent most of my childhood in a small village within a beautiful valley not far from Mexico City, where I was born. Being surrounded by nature, I had the opportunity to grow up in great freedom and in contact with all things natural. After high school, I kept having dreams of becoming a jeweler and I could even see the designs I had created. I decided to follow my dream and have loved it from the very first moment I began working with metal, gems, and fire. I enjoy traveling and meeting people of different cultures. That's how I can feel inspiration growing within me. I enjoy playing with symmetry, as well as combining geometric figures with organic shapes, contrasting textures, colors and, in some cases, metals."

"I'm encouraged by this micro-credit loan because I know it comes from people who are committed to support the development of artisans and are respectful of our work. This micro-credit is a testimony of your values; thank you!"
