Khatuna's story

Khatuna is 36 years old and lives in the village of Shashiani, Kakheti region. She is married and has two children (9 and 13 years old) and grandparents in her family. The children go to the local school, and her grandparents are provided with a retirement pension. Khatuna’s husband has a tractor and provides seasonal agricultural services to local farmers and gets a service fee for the work.

The family is involved in an agricultural business. They have a plot of land where strawberries and peaches are grown. Khatuna picks the fruit and sells locally. In addition, she has a vineyard and produces wine. Besides these activities, Khatuna runs a small dairy farm and owns a milk cow. She sells dairy products in her village.

She requested a loan to purchase an additional milk cow. She will milk the cow and produce more dairy products such as cheese, yogurt and curds to sell at a good price. Khatuna will be able to receive more milk and double the sales of the dairy production. This will increase the income of the family. With the increased income, Khatuna plans to expand her dairy farm and finance the education of her children.
