Satia's story

Satia is a 32-year-old widow. She lives in Odisha with her daughter, age 10. Her husband was a farmer. He was supporting his family with whatever he could make from agriculture. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2002 in an accident. Since then, Satia has taken on the entire burden of her family.

Satia is making garlands using different artificial flowers, threads, etc. She sells at the nearest market. Satia earns 1,500 Indian rupees (INR) from this business. It is a seasonal business. She works for six months in this activity and for the other six months she works as a daily labourer. She has a cow and one year experience in dairy activity.

Satia requested a loan of 30,000 INR to purchase a cow and to repair her cow shed. She believes that she can earn 4,000 to 4,500 INR per month from this business. She has a dream of providing a better education for her daughter.
