A loan of $775 helped to buy pea seeds and natural fertilizers.

Nancy's story

28-year-old Nancy is a hard-working woman who lives together with her husband, Nilo. The couple have three children who they care for in a house that they bought three years ago.

Eight years ago, Nancy and her husband started putting their time and efforts into farming, an activity Nancy has been working in since she was a girl. Her main crops are potatoes, olluco (a native tuber) and peas. She puts a lot of care into her work as she sells her harvests in the city of Lima where buyers are very demanding as regards the quality of the food they buy. Nancy's lands are located in the high part of the village which means that she has to walk for hours in order to reach them. She hopes to be able to put together the money she needs to buy her own farmland. She currently has some land of her own but, as she has to grow her crops in large quantities, she also rents additional land. "I no longer want to invest my money to benefit other people and, for this reason, I will buy some land of my own", she says. This is Nancy's fourth loan from MFP and she is grateful for the support they have given her because it means she is able to continue investing in the progress of her business. She pledges to make her loan repayments on time.

Nancy will invest her money in buying pea seeds and also natural fertilizers which she will spread over her crops.
