A loan of $475 helped to buy fertilizer for his coffee plants.

Esteban's story

Esteban has been a farmer for many years. Together with his wife, Juila, their son, and their four daughters, he does this activity. Normally Esteban himself and his son do the heaviest work on the farm and his wife and daughters do the housework and work in a nursery where they produce the coffee plants for their farm and to sell to other area farmers. During the harvesting season, the whole family goes to work at the farm because there is too much work to do. Esteban just put in some new coffee plants, since some of the ones he had already finished their productive life cyle. For these plants to grow the way they should, it is necessary for Esteban to apply fertilizer to them and that is why he is asking for this loan. He will pay for it at then end of the harvest. During the times when there isn't a lot of work to do on the family farm, Esteban works for other people in the field and his son works for a glass company. When the harvest is over, Esteban would like to be able to support his son so he can open his own glass and aluminum business.
