Karen Josselyn's story

Karen is a 19 year old woman who lives with her parents in a city in the Parcona district. She is single, and she is a very kind, hard-working, and enthusiastic person. She has a great desire to improve herself. During her free time she likes to spend a little time reading. Sometimes she likes to makes the delicious ‘Tallarines Verdes’ [pasta with spinach and basil sauce] to share with her family. Thanks to her effort and her parents’ support, Karen is in school studying obstetrics.

With much enthusiasm, and thanks to her mother’s support, Karen started her small business of selling groceries a year ago. She starts working very early every morning. She is able to work approximately ten hours. She believes that it is going well for her because of the variety of products and the friendly service she provides to her customers.

Karen is very grateful to the Kiva lenders. Thanks to the help they have given her she will be able to buy merchandise for her business. She will buy things like rice, sugar, vegetable stew, milk, cooking oil, soft drinks, drinks, and others. This way Karen will have a better stocked business. With this she hopes to increase her sales and her income. This will help a lot to support her parents and to complete her studies.
