Luzmila Luisa's story

Luzmila is a 50 year old woman who lives in the city of Chiclayo with her youngest son whom she loves and who is her main reason for living. Regrettably, and for various reasons, she became separated from her partner. Since then, she has put all her effort into get ahead along with her son. She is a very kind, hardworking, and enthusiastic person. She had to work from when she was very young to help her parents, and so she was not able to study. Despite this, Luzmila was able to get ahead. In her free time she likes to make clothes for her son and sometimes to cook a delicious dish of tallarines rojos (a sort of Peruvian spaghetti solognese) to share with her family. With much persistence and dedication, Luzmila started her little business selling food. She prepares delicious chicharrones de pollo y chancho (fried chicken and pork). She also sells a tasty pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken) and other dishes. She starts work everyday in the early hours of the morning and works for about 10 hours a day and believes that she is doing well because of her good cooking and the kind treatment that she offers her customers. Luzmila is very grateful to the Kiva lenders as, thanks to the help that they have offered her, she will be able to buy a little stove for her business. This will give her the tools she needs for her work and she hopes that this will increase her sales and her income which will be a great help to her in ensuring the education and wellbeing of her son. She dreams of seeing her son become a good professional and a well-respected man.
