A loan of $900 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland.

Phy's Group's story

Living in a rural area located in Pursat Province’s Kror Kor district of Cambodia, Phy is 48 years old and married with four children, three of whom are dependent on her and some are in school. To support the family, she has been farming rice on five hectares of farmland for several years and supplements her income by raising pigs. The current business earns her about 23,000KHR per day and she manages to save about 10,000KHR each day for the future. Low crop yield is the main challenge for her paddy field.

Phy’s group consists of five members who are all female. This is her first loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Phy, who is the group leader, will use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland. She hopes her crop yield will increase and become more profitable so as to increase her income and make a better living.
