A loan of $700 helped a member to buy fertilizers and pig feed.

Thany's Group's story

Thany lives in a rural area of the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. She is 33 and married with four dependent children, one daughter and three sons, all of whom are still in school. To support the family, she has been in raising pigs for ten years. She supplements the family's income through seeding rubber trees for sale and also selling grocery items at home. Her husband is a policeman. The low price of rubber seedlings and pigs in the market are still the main challenges for her business.

Thany, the group leader, has had two loans with VisionFund, while the other member has had three loans from VisionFund. She completely repaid the past loans which have helped her relieve her family's burden and improve her livelihood.

Now she and her group member are applying for a loan of 1,400,000 Riel (KHR) each. She is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers and pig feed, and to take care of rubber seedlings. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more income from the current business so as to make a better living and keep her children in school.
