Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Amanecer (Flat) Group's story

The group called "Amanecer" (Dawn) is comprised of three women. Each one has a business activity in the town of Coapilla. The Festival of the Virgin of Candelaria is celebrated there on February 2.

Soraida is has been married to Julio César for ten years. They do not have children, and they are very happy.

She requested the loan to buy merchandise for a nutritional club where she sells natural products. Soraida has been working in her business for two years and four months. She says that she has good results, and she is able to buy more goods for her home.

Soraida was motivated to start this business activity in order to get income to reply upon and to not leave it only to her husband, who works in the fields.

What she wishes from her business activity and the loan is to be able to get ahead. She also wants to expand her business, which helps so much to support herself, a bit more

The other women in the group are are:

• Brigida will invest in buying and selling corn and beans.
• Magdalena will invest in buying ingredients to make tamales.
