A loan of $775 helped to buy fertilizer and to hire day laborers.

Narcisa's story

Narcisa, 41, is married to Yover, 44, and they have three children. The house they live in is theirs; it’s made from rustic materials and they bought it 12 years ago. She and her husband work every day in their fields and with much effort have managed to make their land productive. They grow cocoa beans, coffee and coca leaf since these are the products that have the best market prices. What she enjoys best about her work is protecting her plants from possible infestations that can affect them which would greatly reduce her profits. She’s been doing this work for 18 years and considers the most difficult part having to transport the products to the gathering centers which is where she sells them. Her greatest wish is to build her house with substantial materials (bricks and cement) and this is why she continues to work so hard. This is her 4th MFP loan and she expects to reach her goal. She’s determined to totally repay it making her monthly installments punctually like she did with previous loans. She will use the requested 2000 new soles to buy fertilizer for her plants and to hire day laborers to help her with the work.
