A loan of $400 helped to buy cocoa plants to grow on her plot of land.

Francisca's story

Francisca is a hard-working woman who, along with her husband Gualberto, was able to buy her own house, where they now live with their four children. She works in agriculture, growing cocoa, coca leaves and coffee. She has been working on the land for 18 years, and does so with the help of her husband.

During the harvest Francisca is helped by day laborers, so that she can finish her harvest quickly. Her most profitable item is cocoa, because she produces top-quality grains and sells them to middle men, who pay very good prices. In the future, she would like to buy more land so that she can continue growing, which will allow her to help her children get ahead.

This is Francisca’s eighth loan with MFP, and she is thankful for this opportunity as it allows her to improve her living conditions. She is a well-respected member of her communal bank, as she is a very prompt payer. She plans to use this loan of 1,000 Nuevos Soles to buy more cocoa plants to grow on her plot of land.
