The Makarimal Akhlah economic interest group (GIE) was created on 10th October 2003 in Senegal. The term "Makarimal Akhlakh" means a person who has a good heart and good practices. The number of members of the GIE has reached 300 since 2009. Its objective is to unite its members and allow them to exercise farming and fishing activities, general import and export trading activities, transport, industrial, artisanal, building, livestock farming, mining, fishing, hydrocarbon exploitation, art and cultural, printing, carpentry, public usage services, representative, transformation of fishing and farming produce, sale of spare parts, ice-cream making, and bakery businesses, as well as the provision of other services. The GIE also aims to conslidate friendship and solidarity links between its members so that they can obtain the material and financial means necessary to develop their income-generating activities and benefit from all the advantages relating to the GIE. Within this context a protocol agreement has been signed between the GIE and UIMCEC to benefit the members of the GIE at national level. The first phase has been applied to a sample of 120 active members, divided into 12 groups of 10.

Makarimal Akhlakh Group 4 is a grouping of 10 members of the GIE who share the same market, where they carry out their trading activities. They are represented by Dieynaba who is the one with her hand raised on the photo. She has been selling fruit since 1989. Her working day begins at 5 o'clock every morning. She is member of one of the UIMCEC branches and is requesting a loan to buy fruits for resale. Her aim is to diversify the fruits she sells so that she can increase her profits to improve her family's nutritional conditions and save some money. She would like to succeed in exploiting fruit trees in large fields in the future.
