Virginia's story

Virginia is a 23-year-old married woman. She has three children whose ages range from three months to nine years. She describes herself as an innovative and hardworking woman. She operates a restaurant where she sells food, tea and snacks. She has been involved in this business for two years. Her business is located within a busy shopping centre and her primary customers are residents from nearby estates. She describes her biggest business challenge as the high cost of ingredients.

She will use the KES 20,000 loan to buy food ingredients to prepare the meals she sells. Her business goal is to expand her business into a hotel business within five years. She hopes that in the future, she will buy land and build a house for her family. This is the first loan she is requesting from SMEP DTM. Virginia also works at a petrol station as an attendant which increases her business income.
